SEASON PASSES

I call this square "My Sister's Heart".........Our story is a story of hope and restoration. Lovingly made by my sister Jackie.

60 years ago I was lovingly placed with a beautiful Godly family Paul and Opal Tanner who adopted me as their daughter. Much of what you see today at the Pumpkin Patch is an outgrowth of their love and nurture. I'm so grateful for what they instilled in me and the love of the Great Creator and His wonderful creation. They taught me to love people (especially children) and creatures great and small. BUT, for 60 plus years I have had a longing to know about who I was ... where I came from ... who I looked like. Most of the folks I have talked to who've been adopted feel the same way I did. Well due to wonderful technology and a great friend, Darlene, who pushed me, I got on a family history website, and I did a DNA test last July. Sure enough, I got a 1st cousin notification. I quickly sent an email to this person saying I think we might be 1st cousins, and I gave a few details that I knew about my adoption. In the email I asked to please contact me if they were interested.

Within 12 hours I received some of the most wonderful news from the person on the other end of the email "I'm not your cousin I'm your SISTER". What joy!! I found out I not only have a sister but I have 5 brothers as well. She always knew that there was a me, but I never knew there was a her. Long story short, we have all begun our journey together now and are getting to know and enjoy each other. My sister Jackie is very talented and researched Barn Quilt Squares which is a pretty big thing in Texas. She made all of these 4x4 squares that will be hung in various places this year at the Pumpkin Patch. I can't wait to share them with you. I selected the heart to be the benchmark Barn Quilt Square because it represents to me my sister's heart. Researching and building these squares for our patch and for you to enjoy has truly been a labor of love from her to us. I'm thankful for the restoration that has come our family and I'm looking forward to the journey ahead as our lives are sewn together through the upcoming years.
